STEVEN WHETSTONE

Steven Whetstone, born in 1979, is a South Carolina native.  As soon as he could hold a crayon in his hand, Steven has been an artist. In elementary, middle, and high school, art was always a “required” subject for him.

​

After graduating from Brookland-Cayce High School, he enrolled at the University of South Carolina majoring in fine art but also enjoying his sport passion of baseball as a Gamecock pitcher.

​

​After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Studio, Steven went on to a short stint with the Chicago White Sox organization. But as fate would have it, he returned to South Carolina to follow his real passion - ART!

​

​Steven has painted professionally since 2004. He enjoys painting people and landscapes as depicted in many of his painting of the South Carolina lowcountry marshland and women. In addition to solo art shows and occasional art classes, he has judged local and state art competitions.

​

In 2024, after many years of painting in a multiple artists studio setting, Steven opened his own gallery and studio in West Columbia, SC.
